A team member of Greek Kitchen’s job is to provide great food paired with fantastic service.  Since they are the primary point of customer contact, it is up to them to provide our customers an excellent experience by providing fast, friendly and efficient service and by delivering a quality and consistent product every time, in a clean and inviting environment.

Essential  Functions:

  • Prepare quality finished products (handhelds, plates, salads, soups, etc.) efficiently per Greek Kitchen’s recipe manual standards.
  • Comply with health and safety standards for food, cleanliness and safety of our store.
  • Maintain personal hygiene standards, including wearing clean Greek Kitchen uniform.
  • Comply with established food safety requirements and practices.
  • Comply with store security and safety standards.
  • Be speedy and accurate in fulfilling orders.
  • Handle raw and finished waste according to established procedures.

  • Engage in friendly conversation with customers in line.
  • Act with a sense of urgency toward all customers in the shop.

Other Key Functions:

  • Restock food line, chips and cooler.
  • Work multiple stations (salads, toppings, prep, cashier) as directed by Manager.
  • Clean tables, counters, floors, bathrooms, kitchen and utensils; take out trash.
  • Operate cash register: handle, balance and follow all cash handling procedures.
  • Effectively handle customer complaints/issues.

  • Clean food preparation areas, cooking surfaces, and utensils.
  • Cook and package batches of food, such as gyros, meat off rotisserie spits which are prepared to order or kept warm until sold.
  • Cook the exact number of items ordered by each customer, working on several different orders simultaneously.
  • Maintain sanitation, health, and safety standards in work areas.
  • Measure ingredients required for specific food items being prepared.
  • Mix ingredients such as pancake or waffle batters.
  • Operate large-volume cooking equipment such as grills, deep-fat fryers, or griddles.
  • Pre-cook items such as chicken, in order to prepare them for later use.
  • Read food order slips or receive verbal instructions as to food required by patron, and prepare and cook food according to instructions.
  • Verify that prepared food meets requirements for quality and quantity.
  • Wash, cut, and prepare foods designated for cooking.

Shift Supervisor – Chicago, IL

Greek Kitchen’s Shift Supervisors are our future AGMs and GMs! They are tasked by managing and developing Crew Members to execute outstanding product quality and customer service, and to build sales and control costs.

Our Shift Supervisors lead and behave honestly and follow standard Greek Kitchen operating policies and procedures with essential areas of focus including, but not limited to:

People

  • Lead Crew Members on shifts, including assigning tasks (cleaning, line duties, opening/closing duties), and providing feedback and training.
  • Know and support appropriate personnel policies, labor laws and safety procedures.
  • Ensure all security procedures are executed (safe procedures, open/close procedures etc.)
  • Transitions into opening/closing duties.
  • Resolve customer complaints/issues.
  • Empowers Crew Members to make sure all customers leave happy.
  • Execute and support all food safety requirements and practices.
  • Lead Crew Members to open, transition, and close shifts without supervision.
  • Manage and organize the line and delegate duties to Crew Members.
  • Know and uphold standards for product quality.
  • Work the line as needed.
  • Ensure back-of-the-house procedural standards are met.
  • Control food costs, labor, waste, and cash on the shift.
  • Count drawers and follow proper daily cash handling procedures.

Physical Functions

  • Must have the ability/stamina to work a minimum of 40 hours a week.
  • Ability to stand/walk for 8-9 hours per day and sit for 1-2 hours per day.
  • Must be able to exert well-paced and frequent mobility for periods of up to five hours.

  • Minimum of 1 year supervisory experience in a restaurant or retail environment.
  •  Minimum educational requirement: High School degree.
  • Must be able to work a minimum of 2 opens and/or closes per week.
  • As a requirement of the position, all Shift Leaders and Managers must be trained and pass a Food Safety Certification course.  In Illinois, certification is required through the Illinois Department of Public Health. Should the Shift Supervisor or Manager fail to pass the certification requirements after two attempts, he or she will be not be qualified to continue to perform in a Shift Supervisor or Management capacity.

The GM should have the ability to see the “Big Picture” of running the business. He or she will coach and develop people to execute outstanding product quality and exceptional customer service, and to build sales and control costs for each shift.
